Sky Sports has announced a new 5-year rights deal with the new South Africa T20 cricket league as part of their cricket portfolio.
Beginning on January 10, 2023, the League is expected to excite local and international cricket fans while also attracting new audiences of all ages. For the first time, Sky Sports Cricket channels will broadcast four weeks, thirty-three matches, and six global franchises, showcasing live action from 102 world-class players, including some of England’s World Cup winning squads, such as captain Jos Buttler and the now most expensive IPL player Sam Curran.
The League will feature six privately owned teams who will play each other twice in a round-robin stage before the semi-finals and final, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports. SA20 is supported by some of the world’s most well-known T20 franchises, with several IPL strongholds branching out to establish an even larger international footprint.
Bryan Henderson, Director of Cricket at Sky Sports says “We are thrilled to add the SA20 to our portfolio of cricket rights. We believe it will be a terrific competition with some of the best English players involved.”
The SA20 has been welcomed by Sky Sports as a new leading event on the global T20 cricket schedule, allowing current, new, and younger generations of cricket fans to watch some of the greatest players perform on the global stage.
Sky Sports will also broadcast the three England Men’s One-Day Internationals (ODIs) in South Africa on the 27th, 29th, and 1st of February.
