Radio City, one of India’s leading FM radio networks, has launched its in-house music label — Radio City Originals — in celebration of World Music Day 2025.
This musical innovation makes Radio City the first FM network in the country to create and release its own exclusive music tracks, produced entirely in-house and rolled out across all major Hindi-speaking markets.
According to an official press release issued by Radio City, the first track under the Radio City Originals banner will go live at 9:00 am on June 21, 2025, simultaneously across its network of stations. With this launch, the network steps beyond traditional broadcasting, becoming a direct content creator and platform for emerging and original music voices.
To amplify the celebration, Radio City has also curated an exciting line-up of programming for World Music Day, including an ‘A to Z of Indian Music Artists’ marathon and ‘Sound of Mumbai’, a special hyperlocal tribute to the city’s diverse soundscape. The ‘A to Z’ special will take over the airwaves with a non-stop showcase of iconic Indian artists, spanning generations and genres. From timeless Bollywood legends to contemporary indie stars, each artist represents a letter of the alphabet — making for a unique musical journey listeners won’t want to miss.
Listeners can expect a day-long celebration rich in music and storytelling — featuring Bollywood, indie, folk, and contemporary hits; rare tracks and fan favourites; behind-the-scenes trivia, artist anecdotes, and exclusive soundbites. With Radio Jockeys leading immersive talk-ups and interactive segments, the day is designed to keep audiences engaged while spotlighting India’s vibrant musical heritage.
Commenting on the launch, Ashit Kukian, CEO, Radio City, said, “Radio City Originals is our pledge to nurturing India’s indie music scene by giving original voices the stage they deserve—on air, online, and everywhere in between. From AI-assisted production to multi-genre artist showcases, we’re pushing the envelope to create music that reflects modern India. Be it the gullies of Dharavi or digital dreams of a Gen Z singer-songwriter, we’re turning up the volume on talent that deserves to be heard.”
As World Music Day 2025 unfolds, Radio City invites listeners across India to be part of a new musical era. With fresh originals, tributes to musical legends, and stories from the streets of Mumbai, this launch underscores the channel’s commitment to shaping India’s soundscape with creativity and authenticity. One nation. Countless sounds. One Radio City.
