Radio City announces the launch of one of its most prestigious properties, the Radio City Freedom Awards (RCFA), with the theme ‘Bridging Boundaries’ this year. Independent music has seen a meteoric rise in terms of acceptance and consumption in recent years.

Today, independent music is no longer a niche; artists perform across the country and on international tours; independent music is being accepted by mainstream media; brands across all segments are collaborating with independent artists to tell their brand story; and independent music is truly bridging boundaries within the media and entertainment ecosystem.

The Radio City Freedom Awards are the preeminent platform for commemorating, appreciating, and celebrating the inherent talent of India’s indie music culture. The Radio City Freedom Awards recognize outstanding non-music contributions to the independent music community in addition to authentic compositions.

The seventh edition of the Radio City Freedom Awards was launched on February 28, 2023, and the award ceremony is scheduled for March 28, 2023, via a virtual platform.

New-age artists and music have flourished in India, and the goal of launching the Radio City Freedom Awards was to bring attention to and support for independent musicians while also exposing the audience to a diverse range of performers.

The nomination categories for this year’s Radio City Freedom Awards are Best Hip-Hop/Rap Artist, Best Folk Fusion Artist, Best Pop Artist, Best Rock Artist, Best Metal Artist, and Best Electronica Artist, to honor the work of emerging and veteran artists from India’s independent music culture.

In addition to musical genre categories, there are awards for Best Video, Best Independent Collaborator, and so on. To keep the audience interested, Radio City intends to hold a series of concerts in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore during the nomination and shortlisting process.
