To commemorate India’s 78th Independence Day, Public App, a prominent local content platform in India, launched the #PublicSalutes campaign, a heartfelt tribute to the country’s freedom fighters.
This campaign, which began on August 1, has brought to light over 5,000 stories of valor and sacrifice from more than 500 districts across India, making the nation’s history accessible and engaging for millions of users, the platform said in a press release.
The #PublicSalutes campaign was designed to showcase the heroic deeds of India’s freedom fighters on a district-wise basis, allowing users to connect with the stories of heroes from their own regions. Public App utilized commemorative cards to present these narratives, providing a visual and emotional experience for the audience.
Sourced from the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ website, these stories were summarized and turned into compelling visual story cards, which were shared daily from August 1 to August 15. The initial phase of the campaign has already generated over 50,000 shares, reflecting a widespread engagement and renewed pride in local heritage.
In the second phase of the campaign, Public App took a step further by engaging content creators from across the country to collect first-hand testimonies from living freedom fighters. These interviews, conducted in various regional languages to ensure a deep connection with local audiences, offer rare insights into the lives of those who directly contributed to India’s independence. Since the videos started appearing on the app on August 9, they have amassed around 30 million views, underscoring the campaign’s success in resonating with a broad audience.
Sazal Batra, VP of Creator Operations at Public App, commented on the campaign’s impact: “Through the #PublicSalutes campaign, our aim was to bring the stories of our nation’s heroes to the forefront. Presenting these stories and interviews in a manner that resonated with people across the country aimed to inspire a renewed sense of patriotism and respect for our history.”
The #PublicSalutes campaign has made these powerful stories accessible to a vast audience, encouraging users to engage with the content by searching the hashtag ‘#PublicSalutes’ on the app. This initiative not only honors the sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters but also bridges the past with the present, fostering a deep connection with the legacy of the Indian independence movement.
As India celebrates its Independence Day, Public App’s #PublicSalutes campaign serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices that shaped the nation. Through this campaign, Public App has not only paid tribute to the freedom fighters but also ensured that their stories continue to inspire and resonate with future generations.
