Prime Video has announced the global premiere of ‘The Bluff’, a high-octane action-adventure film led by Priyanka Chopra Jonas. It is set to stream worldwide from February 25. Set against the dramatic landscapes of the Cayman Islands, the film promises a gritty, emotionally charged story that blends historical context with modern cinematic scale.
According to a Prime Video press note, ‘The Bluff’ follows Ercell ‘Bloody Mary’ Bodden, a former pirate who believes she has left her violent past behind to build a peaceful life with her family. That fragile calm is shattered when her ruthless former captain returns, forcing her to confront old demons and fight to protect those she loves. What follows is a relentless battle of survival, driven by vengeance, loyalty and the unbreakable instinct of a mother determined to save her family at any cost.
Directed by Frank E. Flowers, who co-wrote the script with Joe Ballarini, the film is described as a non-stop thrill ride packed with sword fights, tactical traps and brutal combat. The narrative places equal emphasis on spectacle and emotion, anchoring its action in a deeply personal story of redemption and resilience. The Cayman Islands play a pivotal role in the film’s atmosphere, with real locations such as the Skull Cave and the iconic bluff lending authenticity and visual grandeur to the storytelling.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas delivers what is being described as one of her most intense performances to date, portraying Ercell as a fierce yet vulnerable heroine navigating the collision between her past and present. Her character’s journey is marked by physical endurance, emotional depth and a refusal to surrender, as she faces a violent adversary determined to destroy everything she has built.
The film is produced by siblings Anthony Russo, Joe Russo and Angela Russo-Otstot under their AGBO banner, alongside Michael Disco, Cisely Saldaña, Mariel Saldaña and Priyanka Chopra Jonas herself. Known for large-scale, emotionally grounded projects such as Avengers: Endgame and Extraction, AGBO brings its signature cinematic ambition to The Bluff, elevating it into a sweeping period action thriller.
The ensemble cast includes Safia Oakley-Green, Vedanten Naidoo, Temuera Morrison, Ismael Cruz Cordova and Karl Urban, who plays the vengeful former captain Connor. The film is rated R for strong bloody violence and runs for 101 minutes.
With its blend of visceral action, striking locations and an emotionally driven core, ‘The Bluff’ positions itself as a compelling addition to Prime Video’s global slate, offering audiences a powerful story about survival, family and the lengths one will go to protect the people they love.
