Prime Video has announced the release of its upcoming docuseries titled ‘In Transit’, a four-part series that dives into the intimate and layered lives of trans and non-binary individuals across India. The series is set to premiere on the streaming platform on June 13.
Directed by Ayesha Sood and produced by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti under their Tiger Baby banner, ‘In Transit’ aims to explore the nuances of identity, love, and the idea of belonging in a society still evolving in its understanding of gender. The series brings together narratives that are both deeply personal and socially resonant.
According to a PTI report, ‘In Transit’ traces the stories of nine people from varied backgrounds — among them a classical musician from Bengaluru, a school educator from Tripura, and a corporate professional based in Mumbai. Each story reflects the emotional and cultural complexities of individuals who have had to navigate life outside traditional gender binaries, offering viewers a rare and honest look into their world.
Blending cinematic storytelling with documentary realism, the series challenges societal norms while celebrating the strength, vulnerability, and joy that mark the lives of its protagonists. It also aims to foster conversations around gender inclusivity in contemporary India.
The docuseries is expected to continue Prime Video’s focus on championing diverse and meaningful storytelling, particularly in spaces that remain underrepresented in mainstream Indian media.
‘In Transit’ premieres exclusively on Prime Video on June 13.
