Prime Video has announced January 30 as the global premiere date for its upcoming Hindi psychological crime thriller series ‘Daldal’, headlined by Bhumi Satish Pednekkar, with Samara Tijori and Aditya Rawal in key roles. The Prime Original will stream exclusively on Prime Video in India and across more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The announcement was made through a Prime Video press release, which also unveiled a gripping teaser that sets the tone for the series. Based on Vish Dhamija’s bestselling novel ‘Bhendi Bazaar’, ‘Daldal’ is an Abundantia Entertainment production, created for series by Suresh Triveni, produced by Vikram Malhotra and Triveni, and directed by Amrit Raj Gupta.
Set against the unsettling underbelly of Mumbai, the series follows DCP Rita Ferreira, portrayed by Bhumi Satish Pednekkar, a newly appointed senior officer in the Mumbai Crime Branch. Rita finds herself drawn into a chilling hunt for a cold-blooded killer, even as she grapples with guilt, unresolved trauma and the darker corners of her own past. As the investigation intensifies, she is forced to confront not only the brutality of the crimes but also deep-rooted biases within the system.
The teaser plunges viewers into a disturbing psychological landscape, revealing a series of gruesome murders marked by grotesque signatures that hint at a deeply twisted mind. Violence in ‘Daldal’ is not merely shocking but deliberately lingering, designed to unsettle and provoke. The narrative moves beyond conventional crime tropes, shifting the focus from the familiar “who did it” to the more disturbing question of “why”.
Nikhil Madhok, director and head of Originals at Prime Video India, said the series aims to push the boundaries of the genre by combining edge-of-the-seat suspense with deeply character-driven storytelling. He noted that ‘Daldal’ explores themes of trauma, vulnerability and resilience, offering audiences a crime thriller that is both gripping and emotionally layered.
Producer Vikram Malhotra described ‘Daldal’ as a story driven by psychological depth rather than spectacle, one that challenges the traditional template of crime thrillers. Creator Suresh Triveni added that the series examines morality, guilt and identity, with an atmosphere that borders on horror in the way tension quietly builds and refuses to let go.
Written by Suresh Triveni along with Sreekanth Agneeaswaran, Rohan D’Souza, Priya Saggi and Hussain Haidry, ‘Daldal’ promises intense performances and an immersive, unsettling tone. The series marks another collaboration between Prime Video and Abundantia Entertainment, and kicks off a packed season of crime and thriller content on the platform this spring.
‘Daldal’ premieres worldwide on Prime Video on January 30.
