Prime Video has announced the exclusive global streaming premiere of ‘Ikkis’, a biographical war drama inspired by the extraordinary life of India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra recipient, Arun Khetarpal.
The film is now available to audiences in India and across more than 200 countries and territories.
According to a Prime Video press release, the film is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sriram Raghavan and produced by Dinesh Vijan, with co-production by Binny Padda under the banner of Maddock Films.
The film features Agastya Nanda in the lead role as Arun Khetarpal, alongside an ensemble cast including Dharmendra in a touching final on-screen appearance as Brigadier Khetarpal, with Jaideep Ahlawat, Simar Bhatia and Rahul Dev in key roles.
At its core, ‘Ikkis’ traces the short yet remarkable life of Arun Khetarpal, a 21-year-old Indian Army officer whose fearless leadership during the Battle of Basantar earned him the nation’s highest military honour posthumously. The film presents a deeply emotional narrative that moves between intense battlefield sequences and the aftermath of war, where a father attempts to reconstruct the final moments of his son’s life while grappling with loss and remembrance.
While rooted in wartime action, the film goes beyond the conventional boundaries of the genre to explore themes of courage, humanity, and the emotional cost of conflict. It reflects on the personal and generational impact of war, examining the scars left behind by violence and the lasting consequences of partition and national struggle.
Through its portrayal of valour and sacrifice, ‘Ikkis’ seeks to honour the legacy of Arun Khetarpal while offering audiences an immersive and thought-provoking cinematic experience that underscores both the heroism and human cost associated with war.
