The prestigious Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2023 Awards were won by Prime Video, India’s most popular entertainment destination.
The coveted Best Series Award went to Prime Video’s original series, ‘Jubilee’, and Best Actor went to Vijay Varma for his hard-hitting performance in the original series, ‘Dahaad’.
In addition, the award for Best Film went to ‘Sita Ramam’, a blockbuster film that premiered globally on Prime Video in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam after its theatrical release.
As per a press note, ‘Jubilee’, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and created by Vikramaditya Motwane and Soumik Sen, took viewers on a poignant journey through the golden age of the Hindi film industry and was well received in India and around the world. Prosenjit Chatterjee, Aparshakti Khurana, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sidhant Gupta, Wamiqa Gabbi, Ram Kapoor, and Nandish Sandhu are among the cast members.
The series was created by Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar and is produced by Excel Media & Entertainment and Tiger Baby Films.
‘Dahaad’ is directed by Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi and stars Sonakshi Sinha, Vijay Varma, Gulshan Devaiah, and Sohum Shah, with Ritesh Sidhwani, Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar, and Reema Kagti serving as executive producers.
‘Sita Ramam’, a period romantic drama that premiered on Prime Video in four languages (Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam) after its theatrical release, has reached audiences worldwide and has been adored by all! The film, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema, stars Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur, and Rashmika Mandanna, among others.
Melbourne’s Indian Film Festival is the largest annual celebration of Indian cinema outside of India.
The festival features some of the most diverse, inclusive, and innovative films and filmmakers, all while capturing the best of Indian cinema from the Indian subcontinent.
