Amazon Prime Video has announced May 15 as the global premiere date for its upcoming Tamil Original suspense drama ‘Exam’. The seven-episode series, produced by Pushkar and Gayatri under Wallwatcher Films and written and directed by National Award-winner A. Sarkunam, explores the emotional and psychological pressure surrounding competitive exams.
According to a Prime Video press release, the series will stream exclusively on the platform in India and across more than 240 countries and territories. It will be available in Tamil, along with dubbed versions in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, and subtitles in 15 languages, including English—underscoring the platform’s push to take regional stories to a global audience.
‘Exam’ features Dushara Vijayan and Aditi Balan in lead roles, with Abbas playing a pivotal part. Set against the high-stakes environment of competitive examinations, the show promises a tense, emotionally charged narrative that blends personal struggle with larger systemic challenges.
Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video India, described Exam as a timely and relevant story that captures the intensity of academic pressure and transforms it into a gripping drama. He noted that the platform’s continued collaboration with Pushkar and Gayatri following projects like ‘Suzhal—The Vortex’ and ‘Vadhandhi—The Fable of Velonie’ has consistently delivered compelling storytelling, and Exam is expected to resonate strongly with audiences worldwide.
Sharing their perspective, Pushkar and Gayatri said the series delves into themes of ambition, injustice, and the moral dilemmas individuals face when pushed to their limits. At its core, they explained, the story follows a young woman who refuses to remain powerless, highlighting not just defiance but also the emotional and ethical cost of standing up against a system stacked against her.
With its blend of suspense and social commentary, ‘Exam’ aims to strike a chord with viewers by reflecting a reality familiar to millions, while presenting it through a high-stakes, character-driven narrative.
