Prime Video has unveiled an early preview of its upcoming Asian content slate for 2026, showcasing a mix of Japanese anime, Korean dramas, and Indian originals as part of its inaugural Prime Video Presents: International Originals event held in London.
According to a press release, the showcase was presented by Gaurav Gandhi, Vice President, APAC & ANZ at Prime Video, and highlighted select titles from across the Asia-Pacific region. The event reflected the platform’s continued investment in international storytelling and its strategy to deliver locally rooted narratives that resonate with global audiences.
The presentation featured senior leadership from Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, including Kelly Day, Vice President of Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios International, and Nicole Clemens, Vice President of International Originals. The event also saw appearances from global actors, filmmakers, and creators, underscoring the growing global appeal of content emerging from Japan, Korea, and India.
Prime Video emphasised that Asian stories have increasingly ranked among its most-watched titles outside the English-language catalogue, highlighting strong global demand for culturally authentic narratives that transcend geographical boundaries. The previewed slate builds on this momentum through a combination of established franchises, fresh creative voices, and long-term partnerships with leading studios across the region.
A major focus of the showcase was anime, a genre witnessing strong worldwide growth. Prime Video revealed exclusive global rights for the reboot of ‘Fist of the North Star: Hokuto No Ken’, marking the iconic manga’s 40th anniversary with a new animated adaptation combining advanced computer-generated imagery with hand-drawn animation. The platform also spotlighted a new instalment of ‘The Ghost in the Shell’ franchise, set in a hyper-connected futuristic world exploring the intersection of humanity and technology, as well as the second season of ‘From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman’, which previously ranked among the platform’s top titles in over 45 countries.
Korean content formed another key pillar of the upcoming slate, with romance-led and genre-blending narratives designed for global audiences. Among the titles previewed were ‘Absolute Value of Romance’, a meta romantic comedy featuring Kim Hyang Gi and K-pop stars; ‘Human x Gumiho’ (working title), a supernatural romance starring Jun Ji Hyun and Ji Chang Wook; and ‘Siren’s Kiss’, a psychological thriller led by Park Min-young and Wi Hajun. Additional projects include workplace romance ‘See You at Work Tomorrow!’, action romance ‘Love in Disguise’, and historical drama ‘The Sacred Jewel’, set against the backdrop of the Mongol invasions of Goryeo.
The showcase also offered a glimpse of upcoming Indian content, including ‘Don’t Be Shy’, a young-adult coming-of-age drama written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji and produced by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt under Eternal Sunshine Productions. The project highlights female-forward storytelling and is part of a broader Indian content slate that will be unveiled separately.
Speaking on the announcement, Gandhi said the preview represents only a portion of what the platform has planned for 2026, adding that content from Japan, Korea, and India is emerging as a powerful cultural force in global entertainment due to emotionally authentic storytelling and strong creative partnerships.
The event reaffirmed Prime Video’s long-term commitment to expanding its international originals portfolio and strengthening collaborations with creators worldwide. With its growing slate of anime, Korean dramas, and Indian productions, the platform aims to further position Asian storytelling at the centre of global entertainment in the coming years.
