Mumbai: Prime Video has announced the global premiere date of its upcoming Hindi action-drama ‘Subedaar’, starring Anil Kapoor in the lead role. The film, directed by Suresh Triveni, will premiere exclusively on the streaming platform on March 5 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu across India and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
According to a Prime Video press release, ‘Subedaar’ is an emotionally charged action-drama produced by Vikram Malhotra, Anil Kapoor and Suresh Triveni under Opening Image Films, in association with Anil Kapoor Film & Communication Network (AKFCN). Written by Suresh Triveni and Prajwal Chandrashekar, the film also stars Radhikka Madan alongside Anil Kapoor, with Saurabh Shukla, Aditya Rawal, Faisal Malik and Mona Singh playing pivotal roles.
The film follows the journey of ‘Subedaar’ Arjun Maurya, a retired soldier who struggles to find peace in a rapidly changing world where the values he once upheld are increasingly challenged. Set in the heartland of India, the narrative explores themes of honour, duty and resilience as the protagonist battles crime and corruption while navigating strained family relationships. The film also highlights a father-daughter dynamic, adding an emotional layer to its high-octane action backdrop.
Directed by Suresh Triveni, known for his acclaimed work in ‘Tumhari Sulu’, ‘Jalsa’ and ‘Daldal’, the film promises a gritty and intense cinematic experience. The makers describe ‘Subedaar’ as an exploration of personal integrity amid societal challenges, presenting Anil Kapoor in a powerful role that blends action with emotional depth.
Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video India, described the film as both a high-energy action drama and a moving father-daughter story. He said the film features a strong performance by Anil Kapoor in a role that is expected to resonate with audiences, adding that the platform is proud to collaborate with Suresh Triveni, Vikram Malhotra and the entire team to bring the project to viewers worldwide.
Producer Vikram Malhotra, Partner at Opening Image Films, said the story revolves around a lead character shaped by service, discipline and sacrifice. He noted that the film combines large-scale cinematic storytelling with intimate relationships, and that the collaboration with Prime Video and the creative team helped bring the narrative to life authentically.
With its blend of action, emotional storytelling and social themes, ‘Subedaar’ aims to offer a compelling cinematic experience when it premieres globally on Prime Video on March 5.
