Prime Video India has added Sony LIV as an add-on subscription, bringing its library of movies, original series, television shows and live sports to the streaming platform.
Announced on October 21, the partnership allows customers to access content from both services through a single destination, without switching between apps.
Sony LIV is available through two subscription options on Prime Video: Rs.399 per month and Rs.1,499 per year. Customers can access the service across mobile devices, the web, Fire TV, smart TVs and other supported living room devices, the Prime Video said in a press release.
The partnership brings Sony LIV’s extensive entertainment catalogue to Prime Video customers, including more than 450 movies, 300 shows, live sports and on-demand content across multiple languages. Its offerings include original series such as the Scam franchise and ‘Gullak’, along with films such as ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’.
The service also features popular television shows from Sony Entertainment Television and Sony SAB, including ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, ‘Indian Idol’, ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ and ‘Pushpa Impossible’. Upcoming and ongoing programming includes ‘KBC Season 18’, ‘Family Full House With Rohit Sharma’ and ‘Indian Idol Season 17’.
Sports coverage is another key part of the offering, with live events including bilateral India cricket, the UEFA Champions League, the French Open, the Commonwealth Games and UFC. Subscribers can also watch India’s tour of New Zealand, featuring Test matches, ODIs and T20Is, beginning October 22.
The content library spans Hindi, English, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Gujarati, further expanding Prime Video’s multilingual entertainment offering.
“Our ambition has always been to make Prime Video the ultimate entertainment destination for our customers. With Sony LIV now available as an add-on subscription, we take a significant step forward in that journey,” said Gaurav Bhasin, Head – AVOD Business and Marketplace, Prime Video India.
Bhasin said the addition combines television programming and live sports with Prime Video’s existing content library, giving customers greater choice through a single service.
Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer and Business Head – Sports and International at Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), said the partnership would help Sony LIV reach more viewers by making its content available through another platform. He highlighted the service’s television properties, original productions and live sports, along with upcoming offerings such as Sony VIZHA in Tamil and the new season of ‘Kon Honaar Crorepati’ in Marathi.
Prime Video’s add-on subscription model allows customers to manage multiple streaming services through a single platform. Benefits include consolidated billing, cross-service search, personalised recommendations, a unified watchlist and a shared download library for offline viewing.
With Sony LIV joining its portfolio of more than 30 add-on subscription services, Prime Video continues to expand its content offering in India, bringing entertainment and sports from multiple providers together under one subscription platform.
