Riding high on the overwhelming success of its debut, Prime Video India has officially announced the development of ‘The Traitors’ Season Two. The Indian adaptation of the globally acclaimed unscripted format premiered on June 12 and has quickly carved out a space for itself as a breakout reality sensation, captivating viewers across 88% of India’s pin codes.
In a press note issued by Prime Video, the platform confirmed that the second season of ‘The Traitors’ is now in development. Based on IDTV’s BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning format and produced in collaboration with All3Media International, the first Indian edition was produced by BBC Studios India Productions. With episodes dropping every Thursday, Season One has kept audiences hooked with its mind games, betrayals, and high-stakes strategy — turning every vote and mission into edge-of-the-seat drama.
“It’s been incredibly rewarding to see ‘The Traitors’ strike such a powerful chord with audiences across India,” said Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video India. “This is a format that fuses emotion, competition, and storytelling in a way that feels fresh and exhilarating. Our versatile host, Karan Johar, along with a stellar cast of celebrity contestants, have truly brought this series to life. We are thrilled to move ahead with Season Two.”
Sabrina Duguet, EVP APAC at All3Media International, echoed the enthusiasm, saying, “The response to the Indian version of The Traitors has been phenomenal. The collaboration with Prime Video has delivered a product that is fresh, authentic, and has resonated deeply with audiences. Season Two is bound to scale new heights.”
Set in a majestic palace in Suryagarh, Rajasthan, ‘The Traitors – Season One’ features an eclectic mix of 20 well-known names from the entertainment industry — including Karan Kundrra, Uorfi Javed, Raftaar, Jasmin Bhasin, Anshula Kapoor, Mukesh Chhabra, Lakshmi Manchu, and others — locked in a gripping psychological game of trust, betrayal, and strategy. At its core, the show challenges contestants to root out the traitors among them, while attempting to survive and outwit at every step.
Hosted by Karan Johar, the show has been lauded for its production quality, immersive format, and ability to keep viewers guessing — making it a social media sensation and a key part of Prime Video’s bold foray into reality content.
The first season of ‘The Traitors’ is currently streaming on Prime Video, with new episodes dropping every Thursday at 8 pm. The series is also a key feature in the platform’s Prime Day 2025 entertainment lineup, which runs from July 12 to 14 and offers Prime members exclusive access to blockbuster shows, deals, and new launches.
