Prime Video has ordered ‘Fallout Shelter’, a large-scale unscripted competition series inspired by the globally popular ‘Fallout’ universe, marking a fresh expansion of the iconic franchise beyond scripted storytelling.
The 10-episode series is set to bring the distinctive world of ‘Fallout’ to life through a high-stakes reality format that blends strategy, survival and social gameplay.
According to a press release, the streaming service said ‘Fallout Shelter’ will be produced by Studio Lambert in co-production with Kilter Films, and in association with Amazon MGM Studios and Bethesda Game Studios.
The show will premiere exclusively on Prime Video across more than 240 countries and territories, adding to Amazon MGM Studios’ growing slate of premium unscripted originals.
Set inside Vault-Tec’s bomb-proof vaults, ‘Fallout Shelter’ places a diverse group of contestants into an immersive, post-apocalyptic environment inspired by the games’ signature dark humour, retro-futuristic design and survival-driven storytelling. Over the course of the competition, contestants will face a series of escalating challenges, strategic dilemmas and moral crossroads, where ingenuity, teamwork and resilience will determine who advances. The ultimate goal is survival, power and a substantial cash prize.
The series is designed to combine large-scale physical challenges with deeply social and psychological gameplay, while remaining true to the choice-driven ethos and rich world-building that have defined ‘Fallout’ for more than 25 years. With its narrative-led competition format, ‘Fallout Shelter’ aims to capture the tension and unpredictability that fans of the franchise associate with the games.
The unscripted show joins a broader ‘Fallout’ entertainment ecosystem that includes the hit scripted television series, the online multiplayer title ‘Fallout 76’, ‘Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition’, and the widely played ‘Fallout Shelter’ mobile game, further strengthening the franchise’s global reach.
Casting for the series is now open, with applications being accepted online. ‘Fallout Shelter’ is executive produced by Stephen Lambert, Tim Harcourt, Jack Burgess, Toni Ireland, Stephen Yemoh, Stephen Lovelock and Amina Badresingh for Studio Lambert, with Abi Lambrinos serving as executive in charge of production. Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy and Athena Wickham executive produce for Kilter Films, while James Altman and Todd Howard represent Bethesda Game Studios.
With this announcement, Prime Video continues to push into ambitious unscripted formats, using established worlds and franchises to create new viewing experiences for a global audience.
