At a grand ceremony, renowned poet, lyricist, and CBFC Chief, Prasoon Joshi, unveiled the much-anticipated book ‘Do Palkon Ki Chhavn Main’ authored by the esteemed academician, Dr. Hema Joshi.
The book, based on a fictionalized yet deeply personal account of Dr. Joshi’s life, artfully intertwines her literary prowess with her profound affection for two Indian cities: Almora, her birthplace, and Prayagraj, where she spent her formative years.
Nestled within a love story, ‘Do Palkon Ki Chhavn Main’ encapsulates Dr. Joshi’s internal struggle navigating between these two distinct worlds. It paints a vivid picture of the romantic idyll of Almora, contrasting it with the challenges that shaped her resilience and character in Prayagraj.
During the book launch, Prasoon Joshi, the chief guest, remarked, “Upon delving into the book, one is immediately drawn into Dr. Joshi’s world. The writing exudes flair, making it an enthralling read. Moreover, it beautifully captures the cultural essence and lifestyle of our hill towns, especially Almora.”
Dr. Hema Joshi revealed that the book’s creation spanned a decade, reflecting her profound connection with both Almora and Prayagraj. “The inspiration to pen this book emanated from a deep-rooted love for these two cities that hold significant spaces in my life’s narrative,” she expressed passionately.
Originally from the enchanting Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, Dr. Joshi pursued her higher education at Allahabad University, where she etched her name as the first woman in the English department to earn a DPhil. With a dedicated tenure of over 36 years as an educator at the same university, she continues to actively engage in academic circles.
Joshi further praised Dr. Hema Joshi’s altruistic nature, remarking, “This book might have emerged earlier, yet Dr. Joshi’s selflessness, often putting others before herself, contributed to the prolonged creative process. Her writing demands thoughtful engagement. Despite her proficiency in English, she chose Hindi as the medium for this masterpiece. We eagerly anticipate more literary gems from her pen.”
Dr. Hema Joshi’s ‘Do Palkon Ki Chhavn Main’ emerges as a captivating testament to the profound influence of one’s roots and the intricate interplay between personal conflicts and cherished landscapes, promising readers an enriching journey through the pages of her compelling narrative.
