Senior journalist Prashant V. Singh has joined the India Today Group as Deputy Executive Editor, marking a significant development in India’s media and publishing landscape as newsrooms increasingly focus on digital expansion and AI-led transformation.
Singh shared the announcement through a LinkedIn post, describing the role as part of the “gold standard of journalism” and expressing enthusiasm about contributing to the group’s editorial vision. In his new position, he will work on strategy and synergy across Business Today’s digital, television and magazine platforms, focusing on audience growth, content innovation, and AI-driven editorial initiatives.
With nearly 19 years of experience in journalism and digital publishing, Singh is regarded in media circles for combining traditional newsroom values with a strong understanding of AI-powered editorial strategy, search optimisation, and product-tech integration. His expertise spans Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO), and newsroom technology architecture, positioning him as a key player in shaping future-ready editorial ecosystems.
Prior to joining the India Today Group, Singh was associated with The Times Group (Times Network Digital), where he led operations for ET NOW and ET NOW Swadesh. During his tenure, ETNow.in recorded strong digital growth, reaching around nine million unique visitors and consistently ranking among the top three business news platforms on ComScore. He also expanded the brand’s digital footprint through podcasts, panel discussions, and flagship intellectual property-driven events covering sectors such as real estate, investments, artificial intelligence, health, and education.
Earlier in his career, Singh played a key role in revamping The Financial Express, helping it achieve a top-three position in ComScore rankings. He also contributed to Zee Business becoming one of the country’s leading digital news platforms and was part of the founding team of News18.com, gaining early experience in building digital-first news brands.
Within the industry, Singh is often described as an “AI–Editorial–AEO” professional, integrating editorial judgment with technology, product strategy, and user experience insights. His editorial approach aligns with evolving global frameworks such as Google’s Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness (E-E-A-T) standards, emphasising credibility and long-term content value in an AI-driven media environment.
Originally from Kanpur, Singh moved to Delhi to pursue Journalism and Mass Communication, beginning a career that spans nearly two decades across several prominent media organisations. His appointment reflects the India Today Group’s continued emphasis on cross-platform integration, digital acceleration, and AI-enabled newsroom practices as legacy media adapts to changing audience behaviour.
Industry observers expect his leadership to drive stronger digital expansion strategies and deeper multi-format integration across the group’s editorial ecosystem in the coming years.
