Paramount Skydance Corp. Chief Executive David Ellison plans to install his own executives to run the studio’s expanded film business, after the company completes its $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. this week, according to people familiar with the matter.
According to a Bloomberg report on October 3, studio chiefs Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein, who run Paramount Pictures, will assume oversight of Warner Bros. Pictures once the deal closes, said the people, who asked not to be named as the information is private.
Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, whose contracts were renewed last October after mounting a turn-around of the Warner Bros studio, won’t join the combined company, which will be renamed Skydance Corp., the people said.
Paramount declined to comment when contacted by Bloomberg. On Thursday (Oct. 1), Ellison also met with James Gunn and Peter Safran, the co-chiefs of DC Studios, the unit at Warner Bros. that controls comic-book characters including Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.
The creative duo, who are currently spearheading a 10-year plan to revive the DC label, will join Paramount, the people said. The contracts of Safran and Gunn expire in April 2027.
