The second edition of the OTTplay Changemakers Awards is set to take place on October 26, 2024, at the Taj Coromandel in Chennai.
The event, hosted by OTTplay, India’s leading AI-based recommendation platform, will honor innovators from South Indian cinema industries—Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam—focusing on those who have made significant contributions to OTT platforms and traditional films, the platform said in a press statement.
Following the success of last year’s event, which recognized disruptors from across Indian cinema, this year’s awards will emphasize the Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam film industries, which have consistently delivered groundbreaking content and captivated global audiences.
The awards will include 35 categories, spotlighting achievements such as Disruptive Star, Most Versatile Performer, and Inspiring Actor for both male and female talents across the four South Indian industries. Other notable categories include Voice of Change and Cinema for Change, celebrating those who have made significant contributions to social causes, such as animal welfare and raising awareness through cinema.
According to Avinash Mudaliar, co-founder and CEO of OTTplay, “The Changemakers Awards celebrate storytelling’s power to inspire real-world change. With a focus on South Indian cinema this year, we’re honoring talents that have pushed creative boundaries and left a lasting global impact.”
The awards selection will be an editorially driven process in collaboration with Hindu Tamil Thisai, ensuring transparency and credibility. The awards event will be supported by Vedanta Anil Agarwal Foundation as the presenting sponsor, Hindu Tamil Thisai as the media partner, and streamed on Zee5, with Fever FM as the official radio partner.
OTTplay, known for revolutionizing content discovery, continues its mission of making OTT consumption more accessible by offering premium curated content from 40 OTT platforms. The Changemakers Awards aim to celebrate the storytellers shaping the future of South Indian cinema and the broader entertainment industry.
Mark your calendars for October 26, as the OTTplay Changemakers Awards 2024 promises to be a night filled with recognition, entertainment, and inspiration.
