On ‘Aap Ki Adalat’ MP CM Yadav likens Congress to Shishupal, EVM to Sudarshan Chakra

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has drawn a striking comparison between the Congress Party and the Mahabharata character Shishupal, urging voters in Bihar to treat the Election Commission’s voting button as “Sudarshan Chakra” to defeat the party in the upcoming assembly polls.

This came during his appearance on Rajat Sharma’s iconic show ‘Aap Ki Adalat’, telecast on India TV on August 30, 2025. The interaction, held in the format of a press release, saw the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister launching sharp attacks on the Congress leadership while rallying support for the BJP in Bihar.

Yadav strongly condemned the recent incident in Bhagalpur where Congress supporters allegedly raised abusive slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother. “Modiji’s mother is no more. If somebody abuses her, it reflects their mental bankruptcy. I condemn this and they must apologize,” he said, calling it an act that the people of Bihar would not forgive.

When asked what should be done to counter such behaviour, Yadav replied that the Election Commission has already shown the way. “Just press the button, Bharat Mata Ki Jai. Bihar is going for elections. This is a big chance for the people of Bihar to press the button,” he said.

The Chief Minister evoked the Mahabharata analogy to drive his point further. “Nearly 5,000 years ago, Srikrishna had promised his aunt that he would tolerate abuses from Shishupal 100 times. But the moment the 100th abuse was hurled, the Sudarshan Chakra did its work. In today’s age, Election Commission has given us the Sudarshan Chakra. Just press the button, the work will be done,” he remarked.

Yadav underlined that democracy does not call for violence but rather for defeating rivals through ballots. “In a democracy, you don’t need to kill anybody. In democracy, you get the reply by defeating the rival. I have full faith in the people of Bihar, who will not pardon such abusers,” he asserted.

On Rajat Sharma’s question that Congress leaders often allege Madhya Pradesh has turned into a centrally administered state since he became CM, Yadav countered by pointing out governance achievements. “They were actually explaining how Congress governments used to be run in the past. Only today, there is news in the newspapers that Madhya Pradesh stands sixth in the list of better-administered states. I don’t have to say anything more,” he said.

Responding to Sharma’s lighter question on how he reacted to being declared CM, Yadav quipped, “I was just a bulb, the button was pressed, and the bulb was lit. When my ticket was taken away, I returned it. When I was made CM, I became CM. I don’t have any problem,” he said with a laugh, adding that it was the party which “pressed the button” and decided his role.

He brushed aside speculation that his personal ties with BJP president J.P. Nadda’s family helped his elevation. “During Rakshabandhan, tens of thousands of sisters tie rakhis to me. Except my wife, all are my sisters,” Yadav said.

Launching a direct attack on Rahul Gandhi, the Madhya Pradesh CM alleged that the Congress leader has an “urban Naxal mindset” for questioning institutions like the Supreme Court and Election Commission. He criticised Gandhi for remarks on Modi’s Gujarat tenure and his demand for proof of surgical strikes. “Rahul Gandhi does not realize the dignity of his post as Leader of Opposition. Unfortunately, because of his urban Naxal mindset, he is raising questions about the pillars of our democracy. It is condemnable and shameful,” Yadav said, adding that people would hold him accountable.
