News18 Tamil Nadu is thrilled to unveil its ‘My Vote My Right’ campaign, a significant initiative designed to inspire first-time voters to make informed choices and actively engage in the democratic process. This campaign underscores the pivotal role of each vote and urges young citizens to commit to the democratic ethos.
The ‘My Vote My Right’ campaign is set to kick off on March 11th with a special event at Ethiraj College for Women in Chennai, spanning 40 constituencies across Tamil Nadu for 40 days. The campaign will feature 2-minute snippets airing five times daily and 30 minutes of digital coverage each day.
As part of the initiative, a specialized van will travel to various colleges within these constituencies, administering the ‘My Vote My Right’ oath to students and first-time voters. The campaign’s objective is to reach 500,000 individuals, educating them on the impact of their vote on society and encouraging them to pledge that their vote is indeed their right. The grand conclusion of the campaign will witness the handover of 500,000 oath sheets collected from students to the Election Commission by Mr. Karthigaichelvan, Managing Editor – South News18, and Tamil Nadu Editor.
The flag-off event for the campaign will feature distinguished guests, including Mr. Satyabrata Sahoo, Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer; Dr. J Radhakrishnan, IAS, Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner; and Mr. Gopalaswami, Former Chief Election Commissioner.
