News18 India has announced a major revamp of its primetime programming, introducing a refreshed line-up of shows and anchor-led formats aimed at offering viewers a more comprehensive and engaging news experience. The new schedule brings together a mix of political debates, field reporting, explanatory journalism and strategic affairs programming, reflecting the channel’s focus on evolving audience preferences.
The development was announced through a News18 India press release, in which Jyoti Kamal, Managing Editor, outlined the network’s vision behind the programming overhaul. According to Kamal, the move is designed to ensure the channel remains relevant in a rapidly changing media landscape while delivering diverse perspectives across the news cycle.
“Leadership in news isn’t just about reach — it’s about staying relevant,” Kamal said, adding that the channel has rebuilt its primetime offering around multiple editorial voices and formats to better serve viewers seeking deeper understanding of current affairs.
The revamped schedule begins at 3.45 pm with ‘Command Centre’, hosted by Major Gaurav Arya. The programme focuses on defence, national security and geopolitical developments, drawing on Arya’s military experience to simplify complex strategic issues for audiences.
At 4.50 pm, ‘Goonj’ marks the return of Arpita Arya to News18 India. Positioned as a platform for incisive news analysis and audience-centric storytelling, the show is expected to cater particularly to younger and digitally engaged viewers.
The 5.50 pm slot features ‘Bhaiyaji Kahin’, anchored by Prateek Trivedi. The programme aims to bring grassroots voices to the forefront through extensive field reporting and direct public engagement, highlighting concerns and developments from across the country.
One of the channel’s established properties, ‘Aar Paar’, continues at 6.50 pm with Amish Devgan at the helm. The show remains focused on political debates and discussions around key national issues, maintaining its position as a flagship offering in News18 India’s primetime slate.
At 7.50 pm, senior journalist Kishore Ajwani will host ‘Sau Baat Ki Ek Baat’, a research-driven programme that seeks to connect developments across sectors and provide deeper insights into major stories. The weekend editions will also feature exclusive conversations with leading newsmakers.
The channel’s explanatory journalism segment arrives at 8.50 pm with ‘Desh Ki Pathshala’, anchored by Sushant Sinha. The programme is designed to provide context and analysis around significant national and international developments, helping viewers better understand the larger implications behind headline stories.
Rounding off the primetime schedule at 10 pm is Aman Chopra’s ‘Desh Nahi Jhukne Denge’, a programme that has built a distinct identity around issues of national interest and public discourse.
According to Kamal, the refreshed line-up has been conceived as an integrated editorial framework that combines strategy, politics, reporting from the ground, explainers and debate-driven programming. “Taken together, these hours represent a deliberate editorial architecture: strategy, politics, field reporting, explainers and debate — each distinct, all complementary, united by a single purpose of helping viewers make sense of a fast-moving world,” he said.
With the new programming structure, News18 India is looking to strengthen audience engagement while offering a broader range of perspectives and storytelling formats across its primetime hours.
