News 1st introduces AI Maya, South India’s first meta-human news anchor

News 1st has introduced an AI-based Meta news anchor named Maya, who is capable of conversing in multiple languages. Initially, Maya will deliver news in Kannada on both television and digital platforms, according to the channel.

This development makes News 1st the first regional news channel in South India to employ an AI-based Meta-Human News Anchor. Maya possesses the abilities of a regular news anchor, including questioning, debating, and presenting herself professionally.

S Ravikumar, the MD & CEO of News 1st Kannada, expressed that their adoption of AI and integration of Maya into broadcasting aligns with their commitment to programming and technological innovation, Sources reported.

In the span of three months, News 1st diligently worked on evolving and creating an impressive AI model for its viewers, resulting in the introduction of AI Maya. While Maya is proficient in multiple languages, she will initially deliver news in Kannada on TV and Digital for News 1st viewers.
