In a steady performance backed by digital momentum, Network18 has reported a 4.3 percent year-on-year rise in its news segment revenue for FY25, according to company filings shared via Moneycontrol.
The growth is largely attributed to the company’s sharpened focus on digital-first strategies, despite headwinds in advertising from traditional broadcast formats.
The Mukesh Ambani-backed media conglomerate, which owns CNN-News18, CNBC-TV18, News18 India, and a portfolio of regional news channels and digital platforms, has made strong gains in its digital news verticals. Analysts suggest that rising demand for on-the-go news and continued investments in AI-driven editorial tools have helped Network18 hold its ground in an evolving media landscape.
Notably, the company’s digital platforms, including News18.com and Moneycontrol, showed impressive performance during the financial year, registering increased user engagement and steady ad revenue, despite a general softness across TV news advertising.
The company credited much of the digital gains to its “audience-first” product philosophy and high-impact editorial content, which helped it stay ahead of the competition. Moneycontrol, in particular, continues to dominate the business news genre, with data-rich analysis, live market coverage, and exclusive stories that have earned it a loyal base among financial readers.
While the TV business continues to be a critical part of the Network18 ecosystem, the company acknowledged the ongoing challenges posed by macroeconomic shifts and advertiser budget realignments. However, a strong showing in marquee live events and election season coverage helped cushion the impact to some extent.
A senior executive close to the development told Moneycontrol that “the company is now aggressively pivoting towards digital acceleration, audience engagement, and revenue diversification. The aim is to future-proof operations while staying grounded in the credibility that defines Network18’s editorial DNA.”
As the financial year closes, Network18 appears to be doubling down on its digital strategy across formats—be it video-led explainers, mobile-first newsrooms, or AI-integrated publishing tools. Industry watchers believe that with rising smartphone penetration and digital ad spends, platforms like Moneycontrol and News18.com are poised to play an even bigger role in the company’s revenue mix in the coming quarters.
