Netflix’s thriller film ‘The Whisper Man’ was filmed across New Jersey, with production taking place in 22 cities and towns across the state.
According to a Netflix press release, the film stars Adam Scott and Robert De Niro. It is based on Alex North’s bestselling novel of the same name.
The story follows a widowed crime writer whose eight-year-old son is kidnapped. He seeks help from his estranged father, a retired police detective, and discovers a connection to the case of a convicted serial killer known as ‘The Whisper Man’.
The 45-day production employed more than 140 cast and crew members, along with around 1,400 extras and daily workers. Netflix also worked with more than 650 local vendors and businesses during the production.
The film was shot at several New Jersey locations, including Hoboken, Jersey City, Newark, Paterson, Summit and Westfield. Some scenes were also filmed at locations such as a former motel in Bayonne and a train station in Summit.
Netflix said some sets used clean battery power instead of traditional diesel generators. The production also used a portable fast charger to support electric vehicles during filming.The Whisper Man’ debuted at No. 2 on Netflix’s Global English Films list with 23.2 million views, according to Netflix.
