In a pitch-perfect move for pop fans, Netflix is bringing Japan’s hit variety show ‘Golden SixTones’ to international audiences starting June 6. The zany Sunday night favourite, fronted by chart-topping Japanese boy band SixTones (pronounced “stones”), marks a major first — becoming the inaugural regular entertainment series from Nippon TV to be licensed by the streamer for global distribution.
Launched in April 2025, ‘Golden SixTones’ has been a runaway success in Japan, consistently topping social media trends and pulling in strong viewership ratings week after week. Now, Netflix is ready to turn up the volume beyond Japan’s borders. In a recent press note, the streaming giant announced the show will be subtitled in multiple languages and streamed worldwide. The series will remain available in Japan via Hulu and TVer.
Each 60-minute episode is a vibrant mix of comedy, gourmet explorations, quizzes, and madcap competitions — all brought to life by the infectious charm and chemistry of the SixTones band members. With celebrity guest appearances and unpredictable studio antics, the variety show is designed to entertain audiences of all age groups, and its appeal is only growing.
Nippon TV producer Yoshihiro Miyazaki expressed his excitement at the global rollout, calling it “an immense honour.” “We can’t wait for fans around the world to experience the electric vibe that SixTones brings each week,” he said.
Echoing this sentiment, Rie Sawaoka, Netflix’s director of content, shared, “We’re thrilled to partner with Nippon TV featuring the popular boy band SixTones, to audiences around the world. Netflix is committed to bringing the best of uniquely Japanese entertainment to our members globally, and we are honored to bring the energetic charm of SixTones and this wonderful program, produced by Nippon TV, to their existing fanbase and new viewers alike.”
As ‘Golden SixTones’ prepares to hit screens worldwide, the move signals a rising demand for culturally rich, homegrown Japanese content on international platforms. And with SixTones at the helm — known for their dynamic stage presence and mainstream appeal — the show is poised to strike a chord far beyond Japan’s borders.
