Netflix has announced a series of product innovations across the Asia-Pacific region, introducing a refreshed mobile experience, expanded curated content collections and new gaming initiatives as part of its broader strategy to make entertainment more personalized and engaging for users.

The announcements were made during the company’s APAC Product Innovation Showcase, where Netflix executives outlined how the streaming giant is evolving its platform to better serve audiences across the region through technology-driven experiences.

As part of the update, Netflix confirmed that its redesigned mobile interface will roll out in South Korea and Japan in July, following launches in markets including India, Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines and Malaysia. The refreshed mobile experience introduces a new vertical video feature called “Clips,” designed to help users discover content through short-form previews. Viewers can watch clips, add titles to their watchlists, share content and instantly begin streaming full titles from the feed.

The company said the Clips feed will be personalized based on viewing habits and interactions, making content discovery more intuitive. Netflix also plans to test themed Clip collections in the future, featuring curated selections around specific genres, moods, reality shows, behind-the-scenes moments and podcasts.

Speaking at the event, Elizabeth Stone, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Netflix, said innovation remains central to Netflix’s mission of serving nearly a billion viewers worldwide. She noted that the company continues to invest in new entertainment formats and technologies that help creators tell stories in more immersive ways while making content discovery easier for members.

Netflix also highlighted the growth of its gaming ambitions, particularly for younger audiences. Lisa Burgess, General Manager of Games Studio at Netflix, said gaming has become an important extension of the company’s entertainment ecosystem as billions of people globally engage with games as part of their daily lives.

A key focus is Netflix Playground, a dedicated space for children’s games and interactive experiences within the Netflix Games ecosystem. Beginning June 20, the upcoming animated title KPop Demon Hunters will receive a dedicated collection featuring six new mini-games, allowing younger audiences to interact with characters and story worlds beyond traditional viewing.

Netflix said Playground is included within all subscriptions and remains free of advertisements and in-app purchases. The company plans to continue expanding the catalogue with games inspired by popular children’s series, films and original characters.

Alongside product and gaming updates, Netflix is further strengthening its content discovery tools through curated collections and themed content hubs. The platform has increasingly used tailored recommendation rows linked to cultural moments, holidays and regional events, including Diwali in India and Golden Week in Japan.

One of the latest additions is “Watch Your Favorite Books,” a dedicated hub that helps viewers discover screen adaptations of popular books. Netflix said these curated experiences are designed to make browsing more engaging while helping audiences find content aligned with their interests.

Eugenie Yeo, Senior Director of Product Merchandising for Asia Pacific at Netflix, said the company aims to combine advanced recommendation technology with human insight to ensure viewers can easily discover stories that resonate with them.

The latest updates reflect Netflix’s continued focus on enhancing personalization, strengthening audience engagement and expanding beyond traditional video streaming through interactive entertainment experiences. As competition intensifies across the streaming industry, the company is betting on innovation across mobile, content discovery and gaming to deepen user engagement across Asia-Pacific markets.
