Netflix has greenlit production of its new K-teen romance ‘No Crushing Allowed’ and announced its lead cast, with Moon Sang-min, Shin Sia, Lee Min-jae and Choi Hee-jin set to star.
The story follows 19-year-olds at two prestigious rival schools, Jinwol Boys’ High and Jinwol Girls’ High, who are forbidden from dating. The schools are separated by a wall, with an unusual rule warning students against crossing it and expulsion awaiting anyone caught dating.
Moon Sang-min plays Lee Chi-won, a straight-A student and student body president at Jinwol Boys’ High, while Shin Sia plays So Ran, the girls’ school president and a promising track-and-field athlete. The two grew up in the same neighbourhood and have long viewed each other as rivals, but begin questioning whether their growing feelings stem from competition or first love.
Lee Min-jae plays Gong Su-ho, Chi-won’s love-hate rival who approaches So Ran for reasons of his own. Choi Hee-jin plays Kim Ri-ji, a bubbly transfer student and So Ran’s roommate, setting up further complications among the four young characters.
The series is directed by Jamie K Lee and written by Lee Na-eun.
Netflix said the show combines the nostalgia and excitement of first love with the highs and lows of modern school life, continuing the streamer’s K-teen romcom slate that includes ‘Love Untangled’ and ‘Love Alarm’.
