Netflix India unveils 2026 content slate featuring top stars, new seasons

Netflix India yesterday unveiled at a Mumbai event various shows that will be gracing the platform over the next 12 months. The specially curated lineup includes Sunny Deol’s OTT debut series, a legal thriller (‘Ikka’), a Neeraj Pandey-Manoj Bajpayee coming together crime series, Madhavan-headlined South Indian language original ‘Legacy’, apart from additional seasons of audience favourites like Bhuvam Bam’s comedy series ‘Dhindora’‘The Lust Stories’ and ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’.

Interestingly, ‘Lock Upp’, which originally aired on ALT Balaji and MX Player in 2022, moves to Netflix with its second season. The show is created by soap queen Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms. However, what’s unclear is who’d host this show in its second season. The first season was hosted by film star-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut, presently a Member of Parliament representing Mandi area in Himachal Pradesh.

According to PTI reports from Mumbai, actor Manoj Bajpayee will star in Netflix’s upcoming crime thriller ‘Ghooskhor Pandat’, a film that reunites him with his ‘Special 26’ filmmaker Neeraj Pandey.

Pandey serves as a producer on the new movie, which was announced at streamer’s Next on Netflix 2026 event yesterday.

‘Ghooskhor Pandat’ follows Ajay Dikshit, also known as Pandat, a corrupt police officer whose plans for a lucrative and eventful night are disrupted when he finds himself caught in the middle of a global conspiracy unfolding in the heart of Delhi.

‘Legacy’, a South Indian crime drama series, will be headlined by R Madhavan. It centres on an ageing patriarch who races against time to secure his empire by choosing a successor before rivals tear it apart. The series explores power, ambition and succession within a crime-driven family setup.

Actors Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri will headline Netflix’s upcoming comedy thriller film ‘Maa Behen’, which also features Ravi Kishan.

The show centres on Rekha and her two daughters, Jaya and Sushma, who find themselves at the centre of attention in their conservative neighbourhood after an unexpected incident leaves their neighbour’s dead body in their kitchen.

Saif Ali Khan, the star of Netflix’s first original ‘Sacred Games’, said it was lovely to be back on the streaming platform with period film ‘Hum Hindustani’, which revolves around a team of officials battling chaos, resistance and impossible odds to deliver India’s first elections.

Directed by Rahul Dholakia of ‘Parzania’ fame, the movie, inspired by true events, also features Pratik Gandhi as a cop. It is produced by Emmay Entertainment with Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani and Nikkhil Advani serving as producers.

“Honestly, it feels like being at home because Netflix and I started off together 10 years ago… ‘Sacred Games’ was amazing. And I think it always stood for high quality. And the people that we work with, even in the production, have made sure that we make a lovely kind of good-looking and very interesting product every time,” Saif said.

Vikrant Massey is returning to Netflix after the success of ‘Haseen Dilruba’ movies with the romantic series ‘Musafir Café’, a story about love and second chances.

The show marks Massey’s debut as a producer. Set in Mussoorie, the story unfolds across two different timelines — Chander and Sudha and later Chander’s connection with Preeti.

“When this script came to me, I read it one go, and I felt I must act in it. From the production point of view, Vijay Subramaniam and the creators of the show, it was great to be working with them. Vijay sir has been my mentor and he pushed me to do this. I’m thankful for this opportunity,” Massey gushed.

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta returns to Netflix with his new show ‘Family Business’, centred on a power struggle between an industrialist and his protege, played by Anil Kapoor and Vijay Varma.

The first look and teaser of the series was shared by the streamer on Tuesday during the Netflix event.Mehta, who earlier worked with Netflix for ‘Scoop’, has co-created the series with Niren Bhatt.

Netflix also announced the second season of actor-influencer Bhuvam Bam’s comedy series ‘Dhindora’, which revolves around a couple navigating love and tradition.

The second season is described as a comedy-drama where the husband’s past collides with his wife’s powerful village household. The writing team for the new season includes Bam, Abbas Dalal, Hussain Dalal, Chetan Dange, Gopal Dutt, Shubham Dubey and Anant Dubey.

Bollywood star Sunny Deol, who is riding high on the success of ‘Gadar 2’ and ‘Border 2’, is all set to make his OTT debut with Netflix’s upcoming legal drama-thriller ‘Ikka’.

The film follows a high-profile advocate as he is arm-twisted into taking up a case, compelling him to deploy every trick of the trade as professional duty clashes with unresolved grudges. ‘Dhurandhar’ star Akshaye Khanna will play the antagonist in it.

Two new seasons of ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ were also announced yesterday, marking the return of the popular non-fiction series. The show found a wide audience both in India and internationally. The comedy talk show has emerged as one of Netflix India’s most recognisable unscripted formats, blending celebrity conversations, stand-up humour and sketch comedy.

Speaking at the event, Netflix India chief Monika Shergill expressed enthusiasm about taking the franchise forward. “It’s the first fifth that we are doing and we are really excited for it,” she said, underlining the platform’s confidence in the show’s continued appeal.

Though not really related to the Indian slate, a PTI report added that Netflix yesterday announced a new collaboration with global K-pop sensation BTS, confirming the release of a documentary film titled ‘BTS: The Return’ along with the exclusive live streaming of the band’s upcoming concert in Seoul.

The streaming platform will broadcast BTS’ much-anticipated concert at Gwanghwamun Square, Seoul, on March 21, marking the group’s return after their break that began in 2022. The concert will be streamed live exclusively on Netflix, giving fans across the world a front-row experience of the band’s comeback performance.

BTS, comprising Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jung Kook, has remained one of the most influential music groups globally, with a fan base that spans continents. Their return to the stage has been keenly awaited, making the Netflix live stream a significant moment for fans unable to attend the concert in person.
