Netflix is bringing its Creative Asia programme back to the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) for the third year in a row. It will take place on October 10 at Dongseo University Centum Campus in South Korea.

According to an official announcement by Netflix yesterday, Creative Asia is a programme that supports new and upcoming filmmakers from across Asia.

The 2026 edition will be held in association with BIFF, the Asian Film Commissions Network (AFCNet) and the Motion Picture Association (MPA).

The programme will include sessions on filmmaking, storytelling and film locations. It will also cover topics such as making films with different budgets and the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in filmmaking.

For the first time, Netflix content executives will conduct workshops as part of Creative Asia. These sessions will give aspiring writers and filmmakers an understanding of storytelling, script development and how projects are selected for financing.

The event will also feature a cinematography session for ‘Possible Love’. Cinematographer Kim Ji-yong will discuss the visual style of the film and his work with director Lee Chang-dong.

Another session will focus on new Korean filmmakers and the challenges of making films with small and medium budgets.

Netflix and the MPA will also hold a discussion on the use of AI in filmmaking across the Asia-Pacific region.

Creative Asia has previously been held with BIFF and at the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) in Indonesia.

Netflix said the programme aims to support new talent and build connections among filmmakers and creative communities across the Asia-Pacific region.
