Warner Bros. Discovery has appointed media executive Neeraj Jha as Head of Sports Business for India and South Asia, entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the company’s regional sports strategy and expanding its presence in one of the most competitive sports media markets.
The development was shared through a LinkedIn post by Jha, where he expressed enthusiasm about taking on the new role and steering the company’s sports business across the region. His elevation follows more than six years with the global media and entertainment company, during which he held several key positions.
Most recently, Jha served as Director of Content, Programming and Acquisition at Warner Bros. Discovery between 2024 and 2026. In that role, he was involved in shaping the network’s programming strategy, content partnerships and acquisition initiatives, contributing to the growth of the company’s sports and entertainment offerings.
With his new appointment, Jha will now oversee the sports business for India and the wider South Asian market. His role is expected to involve strengthening the company’s sports portfolio, identifying new content opportunities and navigating the evolving media rights landscape across the region.
Prior to joining Warner Bros. Discovery, Jha built an extensive career across several leading media organisations. He served as Assistant Vice President of Production at TEN Sports Network, where he played an important role in managing live sports broadcast operations. During his time there, he was also involved in launching the daily sports programme ‘Sports Night’, which became popular among viewers.
His professional journey also includes editorial and production roles at organisations such as Zee News and ETV Network. In addition, he worked with global sports, events and talent management company IMG, gaining further experience in sports media and production.
Beyond his corporate roles, Jha also explored entrepreneurship as the co-founder of SEEtalks, a platform focused on knowledge-sharing and conversations across industries.
With the South Asian sports market continuing to grow rapidly amid increasing competition for broadcast and streaming rights, Jha’s appointment signals Warner Bros. Discovery’s focus on strengthening its regional sports strategy. In his new role, he is expected to play a key part in driving business growth, content acquisition and strategic partnerships for the company’s sports operations in India and neighbouring markets.
