After registering strong participation in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, the much-anticipated ‘Namma Run – South Edition’ is now heading to Chennai, where it will be held on December 21, 2025.
The Chennai leg marks the third stop in the South India circuit and comes on the back of two highly successful editions that drew more than 3,500 runners each in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
According to the organisers, this announcement comes as part of an official press release outlining the expanding footprint of Namma Run across southern India. With momentum steadily building across the region, the Chennai edition is expected to surpass previous participation milestones and further strengthen the event’s position as a community-focused fitness celebration.
The Chennai run is designed to welcome participants of all age groups, offering a broad mix of categories that include kids’ fun runs, family walkathons, senior citizen runs and competitive timed races. Families, fitness enthusiasts and casual walkers are all expected to turn out in large numbers for what promises to be a lively Sunday morning experience along one of the city’s most iconic stretches.
Staying true to the spirit of the South Edition, the event will go beyond a conventional marathon format. Organisers have planned a carnival-like atmosphere featuring Zumba warm-up sessions, yoga, live music, local performance groups, shopping kiosks and food stalls, transforming the run into a festive community gathering that blends fitness with entertainment.
Participants from the earlier editions in Bengaluru and Hyderabad have described Namma Run as more than just a race. “Not just a run—an experience for the whole family,” said one runner, while another noted that it “felt like a fitness festival more than a marathon,” reflecting the event’s inclusive and celebratory appeal.
The Chennai edition is presented by Be-Rite Sunflower Oil and co-powered by Lalitha Jewellery and Reliance Industries. Mikbasket is the Hydration and Nutrition Partner, while SIMS Hospital is the Health Partner and Tamilnad Mercantile Bank the Banking Partner.
Special Partners include Decathlon and Spinz De-Tan Face Pack, with Dr Raman Environment Research Foundation coming on board as the Associate Partner, along with several supporting partners.
With its blend of fitness, festivity and community bonding, the Chennai leg of Namma Run – South Edition continues the event’s mission of bringing people together across major southern cities, reinforcing the idea that running can be as much about shared experiences as it is about the finish line.
