News18 Kannada has announced its first-ever city marathon, ‘Namma Run – South Edition’, which will take place in Bengaluru on September 28, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Ground, opposite UB City. The event promises to be more than just a race, positioning itself as a fitness festival that celebrates health, inclusivity, and community spirit by bringing together participants of all age groups.
According to a News18 Kannada press release, the marathon will be flagged off by iconic Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar, fondly known as ‘Karunada Chakravarthy’. His presence is expected to add star power and a strong sense of local pride to the city’s first edition of this initiative. The event offers a wide range of categories designed to ensure participation from everyone, whether children, families, fitness enthusiasts, or seasoned runners.
For kids, there are 1 km and 2 km fun runs, along with a 3 km timed run. Adults and senior citizens can participate in the 3 km walkathon, while other options include 5 km and 10 km fun runs. For competitive runners, timed 5K and 10K runs are also part of the lineup, making ‘Namma Run’ a true blend of recreation and competition.
This is the debut edition of the ‘Namma Run’ series, beginning in Bengaluru before expanding across South India. The initiative will travel to Hyderabad in November, Chennai in December, and Kochi in January/February, offering cities across the region an opportunity to come together in the spirit of health and fitness. Registrations for the Bengaluru edition are now open, inviting citizens to lace up for a day of high-energy celebration.
The event is supported by several prominent sponsors and partners. Casagrand joins as the Presenting Sponsor, while Amity University is on board as Co-Presenting Sponsor. The marathon is powered by Fybros Smart Electrical Creations and Reliance, with Off Limits as the Sports Merchandise Partner and Narayana Health as the Health Partner. Decathlon has come on as the Sports Partner, alongside Special Partners Prominence, Repose Mattress, and Meenakshi TMT. Twin Birds has also joined as an Associate Partner.
With its mix of star appeal, inclusivity, and community engagement, ‘Namma Run’ is set to create a landmark fitness festival in Bengaluru, combining the joy of running with the celebration of togetherness.
