Sony Pictures Entertainment has announced the appointment of veteran executive Nachiket Pantvaidya as the General Manager of Sony Pictures International Productions (SPIP) in India.
In this new role, Nachiket will oversee local Indian productions, collaborating closely with Shony Panjikaran, General Manager and Head of Sony Pictures Releasing International, India.
Shebnem Askin, EVP of Creative Production and Head of Sony Pictures International Production expressed excitement about Nachiket’s appointment, “Sanford Panitch and I are thrilled to welcome Nachiket to lead our local Indian production. These are exciting times as we prepare to release our largest local slate for the Indian market over the next two years. Nachiket’s rich industry experience, new energy, and dynamic execution skills will propel SPIP to a prime position.”
Nachiket Pantvaidya, commenting on his new role, stated, “I am honored to lead and nurture our creative and business forces to best serve our movie audiences, especially as the creative and business parameters for filmmaking in India are being redefined. Our goal is to scale our output to meet audience expectations and ensure that the right cohorts see the movies of their choice on their preferred distribution mediums. Nachiket brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as Group CEO of Balaji Telefilms and Business Head of Sony Entertainment Television. He has also been Business Head of Star Plus, Head of Star Pravah, Managing Director of Fox Television Studios, and has held key management roles at BBC and Disney. An IIM-Ahmedabad alumnus, Nachiket will continue his duties as CEO of Sony Entertainment Talent Ventures in parallel with his new responsibilities at SPIP.
Nachiket’s diverse background and extensive experience in the entertainment industry make him well-suited to lead Sony Pictures International Productions in India as the company aims to enhance its local production capabilities and deliver a robust slate of films for the Indian market.
