Miley Cyrus is set to return to her iconic Disney Channel series ‘Hannah Montana’ with a special 20th anniversary event, scheduled to premiere on March 24. The celebration will mark two decades of the show’s enduring popularity, featuring a live and in-depth conversation with Cyrus as she revisits the sets, music and memories that helped turn the series into a cultural phenomenon.
According to a UNI report, the special will look back at the show’s journey and its lasting impact on fans worldwide. Disney also released a first-look teaser on Instagram with the caption, “Going back to where it all began. The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special premieres March 24 on Disney. MileysMemories.”
The clip opens with a car pulling up to Stage 9, where the original show was filmed, with its number plate reading ‘HM 20’, before offering a glimpse of Miley’s iconic boots.
Cyrus will sit down with Alex Cooper, host of the Call Her Daddy podcast, for a conversation exploring the creation of one of pop culture’s most recognisable characters and the lasting influence the show has had on audiences. The special will also feature recreated sets such as the Hannah Montana closet and the Stewart family living room, along with never-before-seen archival footage and music from the series.
Sharing her excitement about the milestone, Cyrus said, “Hannah Montana will always be a part of who I am. What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I’ll always be thankful for that connection.” She added that the continued love for the show after all these years is something she takes great pride in, describing the anniversary celebration as a way of thanking fans who have supported her for two decades.
The special is produced by Unwell Productions and HopeTown Entertainment, with Cyrus, Tish Cyrus-Purcell, Cooper and Matt Kaplan serving as executive producers, and Ashley Edens as showrunner. Ahead of the premiere, Disney will also spotlight a dedicated Hannah Montana collection featuring all four seasons of the series, ‘Hannah Montana: The Movie’, as well as concert specials and related content.
