Meta, the company formerly known as Facebook, has introduced the WhatsApp app on Google’s Wear OS smartwatches. This app was initially teased at the Google I/O conference.
Users of Wear OS 3 watches can now access WhatsApp directly from their wrists, allowing them to start new conversations, reply to messages, and even take calls without needing their smartphones nearby. They have the option to respond using their voice, emojis, quick replies, or regular text, IANS reported.
The company’s CEO and Founder, Zuckerberg, expressed excitement about expanding WhatsApp’s availability to more devices in the future.
Additionally, users can respond to messages with voice messages, emojis, regular text, and quick replies. Those with LTE-capable Wear OS 3 watches can even respond to messages without having their smartphones nearby.
The release of the Wear OS app is seen as a strategic move to generate momentum for Samsung’s upcoming ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ event. Furthermore, it aims to make Wear OS more appealing to the billions of active WhatsApp users worldwide.
