After a seven-year hiatus from acting, Meghan Markle is returning to the screen with a cameo in the upcoming Amazon MGM comedy ‘Close Personal Friend’s, directed by Jason Orley. The film features an impressive star cast including Lily Collins, Jack Quaid, Brie Larson, and Henry Golding, and is currently being shot around Los Angeles.
According to a report by Variety, the movie follows an ordinary couple who unexpectedly befriend a celebrity couple during a trip to Santa Barbara. What begins as an innocent friendship soon spirals into chaos, leading to a series of hilarious and unpredictable events.
The screenplay for ‘Close Personal Friends’ has been written by Isaac Aptaker, based on a story co-developed by Aptaker and Orley. The film is being produced by Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, marking a reunion of the creative team behind Amazon MGM’s hit romantic comedy ‘I Want You Back’.
Best known for her role as Rachel Zane in the long-running legal drama Suits, Markle has also appeared in films such as ‘Horrible Bosses’, ‘Dysfunctional Friends’, and ‘Random Encounters’. Since marrying Prince Harry in 2018, the Duchess of Sussex stepped away from acting to focus on philanthropic ventures and media projects under their production banner, Archewell Productions.
Though ‘Close Personal Friends’ marks her return to acting, Markle has remained active in the entertainment space through documentaries and lifestyle programming. She appeared alongside Prince Harry in the acclaimed docuseries ‘Oprah with Meghan and Harry’ and Harry & Meghan, both on Netflix. She also features in ‘With Love, Meghan’, a lifestyle-focused series where she invites celebrity guests for conversations and shared experiences.
With her brief but highly anticipated appearance in ‘Close Personal Friends’, Meghan Markle’s return to Hollywood adds a fresh spark to her creative journey blending royal poise with her signature charm on screen once again.
