Media industry’s veteran and Indianbroadcastingworld’s member of advisory board Col (Retd.) V.C. Khare has passed away at his Noida home after a brief hospitalization.
Often referred to as the Bhishma Pitamah (the ageless and knowledgeable warrior of Mahabharat), Col. Khare was a repository of media industry information and despite his advancing age always tried to keep himself abreast of latest developments.
He was 82, but could still put to shame a youngster with his charm and youthfulness.
Starting off as an electronics maintenance systems engineer, Col. Khare served the Indian Army with distinction before taking premature retirement.
With 24 years of technical experience in the Army, Col. Khare devoted the remaining days of his life to Indian media industry, in general, and television wireline broadcasting networks, in particular. He has 27 years of experience of helping deliver delivery television content in the
residential segment.
Col. Khare was also instrumental in helping draft the Cable TV Networks Regulation Act and the standards for BIS, apart from advising national MSOs in India and Bangladesh, establishment of earth station for JAINHITS and drafting customer management documentation for triple play for Singapore’s STARHUB.
The IBW team condoles his death and in this hour of grief stands by the bereaved family.
