The highly anticipated MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2024 will take place from October 19 to October 24, showcasing a lineup of over 110 films in more than 50 languages. Known as a celebration of world cinema, creativity, and culture, the six-day event will bring together films from various genres across the globe.
According to PTI, Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, the interim festival director, highlighted the significance of partners and sponsors, saying, “As an independent charitable organisation, MAMI relies on the generosity of its supporters. We are grateful to every partner who has helped us bring world cinema to our audiences in this transition year.”
This year’s festival will feature films across various sections including:

• Focus South Asia (Non-Competition)
• World Cinema
• Tributes
• Restored Classics
• Gala Premieres
• Masterclasses
• Dimensions Mumbai
• Royal Stag Barrel Select Large Short Films
The curation includes 20+ world premieres, 25+ Asia premieres, and 35+ South Asia premieres, offering a diverse selection of international and regional films.
Deepti DCunha, the artistic director, shared the festival’s focus on South Asian filmmakers. “We received a significant number of submissions from the South Asian diaspora, reinforcing our vision to highlight films that champion the South Asian voice,” she stated. MAMI will provide a common platform to these filmmakers through the South Asia Competition and Focus South Asia sections.
In partnership with Soho House Mumbai, the festival will host an industry program from October 21 to October 23. This will include a series of talks and workshops aimed at inspiring local film talent. The program promises to bring industry leaders and creative minds together, fostering innovation and collaboration in Mumbai’s film community.

Screenings will take place across venues supported by PVR INOX and Regal Cinema, two prominent multiplex chains. Their involvement ensures state-of-the-art facilities for attendees to enjoy the wide array of films during the festival.
With a robust lineup of films and an exciting slate of events, the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival continues to be a prominent platform for global cinema, championing both independent filmmakers and international stars.
