MEASAT Global Berhad (MEASAT), Malaysia-based satellite solutions provider, is collaborating with NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) to support its business through a collaboration agreement signed at the Bengaluru Space Expo 2024.
NSIL, a government-owned company under India’s Department of Space, is responsible for owning and operating its fleet of communication satellites and providing services to users from both the government and private sectors.
Leveraging NSIL’s support to strengthen its presence in the Indian market, this partnership will enable MEASAT to offer its satellite capacity for broadcasters, DTH operators and other services in near future, a Kuala Lumpur-issued media statement from Malaysian satellite operator MEASAT stated after the pact was signed last week.
Domestic services will utilise MEASAT-3b Ku-Band, while regional connectivity will be provided through MEASAT-3d Global C-Band, ensuring robust and reliable coverage across the region.
“MEASAT is pleased to strengthen the business relationship and expand the collaboration with NSIL, who has been our partner for more than five years. It is exciting to see the Indian Government’s commitment to grow the space industry and we are keen to leverage our capabilities and reliable satellites to support the needs of current and future clients in the country.
“The success of our CONNECTme satellite broadband service in helping to close the connectivity gap in rural Malaysia could be replicated in India through this partnership,” said Ganendra Selvaraj, Chief Commercial Officer, MEASAT said.
- Arunachalam, Director, NewSpace India Limited, added: “We are delighted with this expansion of our relationship with MEASAT. NSIL is committed to meet the demands of users in the Indian market and, hence, it would continue the successful business activities with international satellite solutions providers like MEASAT, in line with India’s national goals.”
