The trailer of Maggie Gyllenhaal’s upcoming horror-thriller ‘The Bride’ has been released, offering audiences a chilling glimpse into its suspense-driven narrative.
With themes of love, betrayal, and fate woven into a cursed wedding ritual, the film promises to bring psychological and supernatural horror to the big screen.
According to a UNI report, the story follows a lonely Frankenstein who travels to 1930s Chicago in search of Dr. Euphronius, hoping to create a companion for himself. Together, they revive a murdered young woman who becomes the Bride—only to find she is far more powerful than either anticipated. Her existence sparks a combustible romance, police pursuit, and even a radical social movement.
The film features Jessie Buckley as the Bride and Christian Bale as Frankenstein’s monster, with Penélope Cruz, Annette Bening, Peter Sarsgaard, Julianne Hough, and Jake Gyllenhaal playing key roles. Their performances appear to drive the darkly complex drama that unfolds.
First-look images of ‘The Bride’ were unveiled in April 2024, including a striking camera test of Bale in full Frankenstein makeup that created a wave of excitement among cinephiles. The project also brings together an accomplished creative team, including Joker cinematographer Lawrence Sher, Oscar-winning costume designer Sandy Powell (Cinderella), and production designer Karen Murphy (Elvis).
This is Gyllenhaal’s second directorial venture after her critically acclaimed 2021 debut ‘The Lost Daughter’, which earned three Academy Award nominations. With The Bride, she appears ready to push boundaries once again, blending classic horror with a bold, modern reimagining.
‘The Bride’ is slated for theatrical release on March 6, 2026.
