Kevin Vaz, who joined Viacom18 as CEO after his exit from Disney Star in April 2023, has revealed that he will be leading the TV offerings and the digital businesses of Viacom 18’s regional networks.
In a LinkedIn update, the former President and Head of Network Entertainment channels at Star India stated as much.
Kevin Vaz has played a pivotal role in shaping Disney Star’s success in India. Under his leadership, the network witnessed tremendous growth and launched several popular channels, including Disney Channel, Star Plus, and Hotstar.
At Star India Vaz, Vaz was instrumental in restructuring the Telugu (Star Maa), Bangla (Star Jalsa), and Marathi (Star Pravah) offerings and propelling the respective GECs to leadership positions. With the launch of Bigg Boss Tamil on Star Vijay, the network gained market share in Tamil.
Vaz joined Star in 1996 and quickly rose to the position of youngest ad sales lead. Under Uday Shankar’s leadership, he was elevated to CEO in 2018 and was tasked with leading the regional channels portfolio across Maharashtra, Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andhra & Telangana, Kerala, and Karnataka.
Vaz began his career in 1992 with The Times of India Group (BCCL).
