‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ Season 5 recorded 12.88 million unique viewers on Netflix during the five-day measurement window from October 4 to October 8, 2026, according to viewership data released by Chrome DM COTT. The Kapil Sharma-hosted comedy series saw particularly strong consumption on connected TV (CTV), with large-screen viewing coming much closer to mobile consumption than is typically seen for recent streaming titles.
According to a Chrome DM COTT press release issued today, the data covers the period from October 4 to October 8 and reflects ongoing season consumption rather than the show’s launch. Season 5 premiered on Netflix on September 26, with new episodes releasing every Saturday at 8 pm.
The gender split was relatively balanced, with male audiences accounting for 6.98 million viewers, or 54 percent of the total, while female viewers contributed 5.90 million, or 46 percent. The 25–35 age group emerged as the strongest audience segment for both genders, with male viewers in this cohort contributing 2.97 million and female viewers accounting for 2.64 million.

Together, the male and female 25–35 cohorts contributed 5.61 million viewers, representing around 44 percent of the total reach. The male 18–24 segment followed with 2.22 million viewers, while the female 18–24 cohort contributed 1.78 million. The 35+ segments accounted for 1.84 million viewers, while audiences below 18 contributed 1.43 million.
Maharashtra leads State-wise viewership
Maharashtra emerged as the leading individually tracked market, contributing 2.82 million viewers. Uttar Pradesh followed with 2.32 million, while Delhi NCR recorded 1.92 million viewers. Gujarat contributed 0.97 million and Karnataka 0.60 million.
The three leading markets — Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi NCR — together accounted for 7.06 million viewers, or 55 percent of the show’s total reach during the measurement period. The Rest of India category contributed another 4.26 million viewers, representing 33 percent of the overall audience.

CTV Consumption comes close to Mobile
The device-level numbers were among the key highlights of the measurement. Mobile viewing accounted for 5.42 million viewers, or 42 percent of the total reach, while CTV contributed 4.75 million viewers, or 37 percent. Another 2.71 million viewers watched the series across both device types, accounting for around 21 percent of the total audience.
According to Chrome DM COTT, the mobile and CTV numbers were closer than those recorded for any recent series title measured by the platform, where mobile consumption typically stands at roughly twice the CTV figure.
Pankaj Krishna, Founder & CEO, Chrome DM, said the 12.88 million figure represents a steady mid-season number, but highlighted the device split as particularly significant for advertisers. He noted that the close gap between CTV and mobile consumption suggests stronger living-room viewing for the Saturday evening comedy release.

Krishna also pointed to the show’s audience profile, with the 25–35 cohort leading across both genders instead of the 18–24 segment that typically peaks across many streaming titles. He also highlighted the relatively even 54:46 gender split.
Chrome DM COTT tracks OTT audience consumption across major streaming platforms including Netflix, JioHotstar, Amazon Prime Video, SonyLIV, Amazon MX Player and ZEE5, among others. Its measurement covers title-level reach, demographic composition, regional distribution and device-level consumption, providing audience data for content creators, broadcasters, advertisers and streaming platforms.

The platform’s figures are based on actual OTT content consumption and may include viewers accessing content through shared subscriber accounts. Chrome DM COTT defines unique viewers using its measurement methodology, which counts three viewers per CTV subscription and one viewer per mobile subscription.
