The dark comedy thriller ‘KanKhajura’, one of the most anticipated shows of the season, is all set to make its digital debut on Sony LIV from May 30, the streaming platform confirmed on Monday.
Directed by the acclaimed Anubhuti Kashyap, the series dives deep into the murky world of rural crime and political drama, wrapped in twisted humour and gripping tension. The story is set in a fictional town in Bihar, with the show promising a unique blend of suspense, satire, and strong performances. According to a PTI report, the show features an ensemble cast including Raghubir Yadav, Manav Vij, Saurabh Sachdeva, and Anjali Anand, bringing life to a world that’s as unsettling as it is entertaining.
The makers describe ‘KanKhajura’ as a reflection of power play in the hinterlands, exploring how ordinary people get entangled in extraordinary situations. The title itself, meaning “centipede” in Hindi, hints at a narrative that creeps under the skin—slow, suspenseful, and packed with unexpected twists. The series is being produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg, whose production house has earlier delivered youth-centric hits in both film and digital formats.
Sony LIV, known for shows like ‘Scam 1992’ and ‘Rocket Boys’, is pushing the envelope once again with KanKhajura, banking on its layered storytelling and rural noir appeal. The series also marks a creative shift for Anubhuti Kashyap, best known for her feature film Doctor G, as she steps into a darker, more complex narrative territory.
With a story rooted in local culture but told with cinematic flair, ‘KanKhajura’ is expected to strike a chord with audiences seeking content that is both offbeat and thought-provoking. As the countdown to May 30 begins, all eyes are on how this twisted tale will unfold on the OTT screen.
