Superstar Kamal Haasan has decided to postpone the audio launch of his upcoming film ‘Thug Life’, which was earlier scheduled for May 16. The move comes in the wake of escalating tensions along the India-Pakistan border.
As per a UNI report, the veteran actor-filmmaker issued a statement to the media stating, “Art can wait. India comes first. In view of the developments at our nation’s border and the current state of heightened alert, we have decided to reschedule the audio launch of ‘Thug Life’, originally planned for the 16th of May.”
Haasan further emphasised the need for collective restraint, expressing solidarity with the armed forces. “As our soldiers stand firm on the frontlines with unflinching courage in defence of our motherland, I believe it is a time for quiet solidarity, not celebration. At this time, our thoughts are with the brave men and women of our armed forces who stand vigilant, safeguarding our nation,” he said.
‘Thug Life’ is one of Indian cinema’s most anticipated multi-starrer projects, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mani Ratnam and backed by powerhouse banners Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies and Red Giant Movies. The film reunites Haasan with Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman, who has scored the music for the film.
The cast of ‘Thug Life’ includes a host of stars from across the Indian film industry—Silambarasan TR, Trisha, Nasser, Abhirami, Joju George, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Ali Fazal, Vaiyapuri and others. The film promises to be a grand cinematic spectacle, combining strong storytelling with a powerful ensemble.
Co-produced by R. Mahendran and Shiv Ananth, ‘Thug Life’ is slated for a global theatrical release on June 5. A new date for the audio launch is expected to be announced in due course.
