With the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 around the corner, JioStar, the official broadcast and digital partner, has unveiled its new campaign film, ‘Jersey Wahi Toh Jazba Wahi’. The tournament, to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, begins on September 30 and will air live and exclusive on Star Sports Network and JioHotstar.
Conceptualised by BubbleWrap Films, the promo film highlights the pride and unity that the Indian cricket jersey represents, no matter who wears it. It follows the story of a protagonist who hesitates to wear a Smriti Mandhana jersey to work, but on his way encounters fellow fans proudly donning the jerseys of India’s women cricketers. The message strikes home when even the office lift operator sports a Smriti Mandhana jersey and remarks, ‘Virat khelein ya Smriti, jeetega toh India hi na’ (Whether it’s Virat or Smriti, India will win anyway). The protagonist eventually embraces the jersey with pride, symbolising how cricket unites a billion hearts across gender lines.
Speaking on the campaign, Siddharth Sharma, Head of Viewership and Monetisation Initiative, Sports – JioStar, said, “The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup India 2025 marks a defining moment for Indian cricket — a powerful opportunity to inspire a new generation of fans as the Women in Blue set out, on home soil, to chase a trophy that has so far eluded them. Our endeavour is to channel this moment into a campaign that not only supports our players but unites the country behind them. And what better way to do that than by invoking the deep pride that comes with the Indian jersey?”
The campaign positions Team India’s women cricketers as not just hopefuls but genuine contenders on home soil, with the energy of home crowds and the backing of millions of fans. The opening match will see hosts India face co-hosts Sri Lanka in Guwahati on September 30, marking the beginning of a historic chapter in women’s cricket.
