JioStar and the International Cricket Council (ICC) have unveiled an integrated marketing campaign for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, aiming to strengthen mainstream support for women’s cricket and encourage fans across the country to rally behind Team India.

According to a JioStar press release, the campaign is built around the idea that while India’s women cricketers have achieved remarkable success on the field, public perception and fandom have not always kept pace with their accomplishments. The initiative seeks to bridge that gap by transforming admiration for the women’s team into deeper emotional fandom.

At the heart of the campaign is a powerful film conceptualised by JioStar that challenges long-standing assumptions around cricket fandom. Set aboard an aircraft waiting to welcome the “World Champions,” passengers initially assume the arriving team is the men’s side. However, when India’s women cricketers board the flight, the contrast between a young fan’s excitement and the muted reaction from others highlights the changing attitudes of a new generation towards women’s cricket.

The campaign film features several key members of India’s championship-winning squad, including captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma and Renuka Thakur. Through an emotional narrative and evocative soundtrack, the film positions the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 as not just a major sporting event but a significant cultural moment for the nation.

The initiative builds on the momentum generated by the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, which became one of the most-watched women’s sporting events in India and recorded strong television viewership, digital engagement and stadium attendance figures. With the upcoming T20 World Cup, JioStar and the ICC are looking to take that momentum even further by bringing women’s cricket into the mainstream sporting conversation.

Speaking about the campaign, Siddharth Sharma, Head of Content, Sports at JioStar, said the campaign highlights an important reality about cricket fandom in India. He noted that Team India’s women’s side has established itself among the strongest teams in world cricket and deserves the same passion, belief and support that fans traditionally reserve for any Indian national team.

As part of the broader campaign strategy, JioStar has also launched a special promotional film featuring actors Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh. Set in a podcast-style conversation, the film reinforces the message that India’s women cricketers represent the nation with the same pride and significance as their male counterparts.

The campaign extends beyond traditional advertising through the #T20CreatorClub initiative, which brings together creators and influencers to celebrate the stories of India’s women cricketers. The effort includes unique collaborations such as a meeting between young cricket prodigy Shreya Singh and her sporting idols, a tribute to Harmanpreet Kaur by RJ Praveen, and creator BihariLadka’s celebration of Jemimah Rodrigues, among other fan-focused storytelling formats.

To further build excitement around the tournament, JioStar has planned an extensive lineup of original programming across JioHotstar and Star Sports Network. This includes ‘Hum Hogaye Kamyab’, chronicling India’s successful ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 campaign; ‘Jasba Jeet Ka’, documenting the team’s preparations for the T20 World Cup; ‘India’s X-Factor’, which profiles key players; and Expert’s View, featuring analysis and insights from leading cricket voices.

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 will be held in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5 and will be the largest edition of the tournament to date, featuring 12 teams. Led by World Cup-winning captain Harmanpreet Kaur, India will begin its campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on June 14, before facing the Netherlands, South Africa, Bangladesh and six-time champions Australia in the group stage.

All matches of the tournament will be broadcast exclusively on JioHotstar and Star Sports Network, with India’s group-stage fixtures scheduled to begin at 7.30 pm IST. As anticipation builds, the campaign aims to ensure that the Women in Blue receive the widespread support and recognition their achievements have earned on the global stage.
