Reliance Jio’s ‘JioPhone Prima’ 4G feature phone, powered by the KaiOS, has become available for purchase at Rs 2,599 on Reliance Digital, JioMart and Amazon.
The JioPhone Prima 4G keypad phone, courtesy of the KaiOS, supports YouTube, Facebook, WhatsApp and Google Voice Assistant. It packs an 1800mAh battery, and supports 23 languages.
It comes with cameras for video calling and photography. Additionally, it comes packed with the Jio suite of applications such as JioTV, JioCinema, JioSaavn, and UPI Payment via JioPay, IANS reported.
In July, Reliance Industries launched the original JioBharat phone at Rs 999, in a bid to attract the majority of the 250 million 2G users, especially in rural areas, to its 4G network. The JioPhone device comes with two plans – Rs 123 per month, and Rs 1234 for a year. Both plans include unlimited calling and 14GB data a month.
CyberMedia Research (CMR) in its latest report for the India smartphone market said the 4G feature phone shipments experienced an “exceptional” growth of over 300 percent year-over-year in Q3 2023, which was driven significantly by JioBharat K1 Karbonn and JioBharat V2 collectively capturing 63 percent market share.
