JioHotstar has once again redefined the digital sports streaming landscape, concluding the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 with record-breaking viewership numbers. The tournament amassed a staggering 540.3 crore views, with total watch time crossing 11,000 crore minutes—a feat that cements JioHotstar’s dominance in live sports streaming.
According to JioHotstar’s press release, the India vs New Zealand final was the highlight of the tournament, drawing an unprecedented 124.2 crore views and a peak concurrency of 6.12 crores, making it one of the most-watched cricket events in digital history. The platform also witnessed its highest-ever single-day new subscriptions during India’s crucial clash against Australia, further demonstrating the growing appetite for live cricket streaming in India.
JioHotstar’s reach extended far beyond metro cities, with Hindi-speaking regions contributing 38 percent of the total viewership. States such as Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Goa, Punjab, and Haryana led consumption, showcasing the platform’s deep penetration into regional markets.
A significant shift was also observed in Connected TV (CTV) viewership, with over 80% penetration on WiFi-enabled smart TVs. Maharashtra emerged as the leader in CTV consumption, reflecting the growing preference for big-screen streaming experiences.
Commenting on the records, Kiran Mani, CEO – Digital, JioStar, hailed the event’s success, calling it a leap toward a “billion-screen opportunity.” He emphasized how digital streaming is now an expectation rather than an exception, with audiences embracing seamless, immersive, and accessible cricket experiences.
Sanjog Gupta, CEO – Sports, JioStar, highlighted the cultural significance of the Indian team’s campaign, stating, “JioHotstar became the digital heartbeat of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, amplifying the power of shared experiences. With peak concurrency of 6.12 crores for the final and sustained engagement of around 5 crores throughout the tournament, we are pushing the boundaries of inclusive, interactive, and immersive sports streaming.”
For the first time in digital history, an ICC tournament was streamed live across 16 feeds, featuring nine languages including English, Hindi, Marathi, Haryanvi, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. The event also introduced a groundbreaking Indian Sign Language feed and Audio Descriptive Commentary, ensuring inclusivity for differently-abled viewers.
Further enhancing the mobile experience, JioHotstar’s MaxView (vertical feed) was available in Hindi and English, allowing cricket fans to consume content in a more intuitive, mobile-friendly format.
The tournament’s massive digital footprint was backed by a robust roster of sponsors, including Dream11, Pernod Ricard India, Beam Suntory, Kohler, Birla Opus, Vodafone Idea, ICICI Direct, LIC Housing Finance Limited, Eicher Motors, and Indira IVF.
With its latest triumph, JioHotstar has once again proved its vision of uniting India through seamless, category-defining cricket experiences. As the digital sports landscape continues to evolve, the platform remains at the forefront, delivering unmatched live-action at an unprecedented scale.
