JioHotstar has unveiled the gripping trailer of its upcoming Hotstar Specials’ crime thriller ‘Search: The Naina Murder Case’, a series that promises to keep viewers hooked with its dark secrets and unpredictable twists.
At the heart of the narrative is ACP Sanyukta Das, played by Konkona Sensharma, a seasoned investigator caught between her personal struggles and a chilling murder case that becomes her final challenge before switching departments.
According to a JioHotstar press release, the series revolves around the brutal murder of a teenage girl that entangles every character in a web of lies, deceit, and hidden fears. Directed by Rohan Sippy, the show is produced by Applause Entertainment and Highgate Entertainment, in association with Applause Production, and is set to premiere on October 10, 2025.
The thriller follows ACP Sanyukta Das and rookie ACP Jai Kanwal, played by Surya Sharma, as they unravel the mystery that exposes the darkest underbelly of society where truth is elusive and everyone is a suspect. Alongside them, the ensemble cast includes Shiv Pandit, Varun Thakur, Dhruv Sehgal, Shraddha Das, and others.
Speaking about the series, director Rohan Sippy said, “Search: The Naina Murder Case is so much more than a murder mystery or a whodunit – it is an emotional, political and psychological maze. The series is filled with constant twists and turns where the truth always remains elusive. Every character is navigating their own fears, hiding secrets, and managing relationships which will surely keep viewers guessing. In the middle of it all is ACP Sanyukta, played brilliantly by Konkona, who brings a quiet intensity to the character and anchors the narrative.”
Konkona Sensharma, who leads the show as ACP Sanyukta Das, described the role as one of the most layered characters she has played. “I often gravitate towards strong, female, layered characters and ACP Sanyukta is as strong as they come. She’s confident at work while juggling the complexities of family life, which makes her journey deeply relatable. Playing her let me tap into both my strengths and vulnerabilities. Rohan Sippy’s clarity of vision and openness helped bring out the many shades of my character. This is a gripping story that will keep audiences hooked as they navigate the maze of suspects,” she said.
Adding to the anticipation, Surya Sharma shared his experience of playing ACP Jai Kanwal, a young cop eager to prove himself. “On the surface, ACP Jai Kanwal is driven and ambitious, but the case quickly shakes him up and shows that the line between right and wrong isn’t always clear. I loved that he isn’t perfect; he stumbles, questions himself, and that makes him real and human. Working with Konkona Sensharma was inspiring, her depth brought out the best in every scene. The trailer has given a glimpse of the tension and twists, and I’m eager to see how audiences respond to the full story,” Sharma said.
With its powerhouse cast, intricate storyline, and promise of a suspense-filled journey, ‘Search: The Naina Murder Case’ is set to deliver a compelling watch when it arrives on JioHotstar next month.
